SAKANTI BALI 68%
Bali is found in the heart of the world’s biggest archipelago – Indonesia. Being in the Indian Ocean, it is a unique island in more ways than one with its Indonesian landscape. Mainly known for its many rice paddies, Bali enjoys both the perfect fertility and rainfall thanks to its mountains dominated by the active volcano Agung, also known as the “mother mountain” by the Balinese. Bali’s cocoa, grown at the bottom of rice paddies alongside fruit trees such as coconut trees, is considered an exceptional product by the Balinese.
Our Bali story started in December 2013. Julien Desmedt, a member of the Valrhona sourcing team, happened across the cooperative during his work seeking out new varieties and meeting new people. It did not take long before he was convinced that this cocoa’s potential was truly exceptional. Julien went on to form close links with producers and make long-term commitments to them by supporting them as they improved their cocoa-growing techniques.
Five years later, the Sakanti Bali 68% Cuvée was born. Its name means “shimmering” in Balinese, on account of the Cuv.e’s glittering future.
